Problem Note 43216: The message, "Requested Permission does not exist in the SAS® Metadata Server," appears in the SAS Metadata Server log

DetailsAboutRate It

If you run the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard from within the SAS® Management Console against your SAS® Foundation Metadata Repository and you have one or more custom or project repositories registered to your SAS® Metadata Server, you will see messages similar to the following in your SAS Metadata Server log:

2011-05-02T16:28:51,572 INFO [00000953] Audit.Meta.Security (tkomsSecurityMgr.c:6876) userid@yourdomain - Requested Permission does not exist in the SAS Metadata Server.
When you run the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard, the SAS Metadata Server is automatically paused in the Administration mode. This causes new incoming SAS Metadata Server requests to wait in a queue. When the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard executes, internally cached authorization information is reset for all open repositories. The log message above occurs because this reset is trying to access an internal permissions list that is temporarily unavailable when the SAS Foundation repository is off-line for the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard's activity. This message does not indicate that SAS metadata security or integrity is compromised. Once the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard completes and the metadata server resumes, the internal permissions list is once again available and the corresponding metadata server authorization information is rebuilt.

The number of logged messages that appear is based on the total number of permissions that is assigned to each identity in the Default ACT of each repository that is not SAS Foundation, and the number of Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard options that you select. Therefore, a server that has many repositories registered that are not SAS Foundation will likely have a significant number of these messages logged each time the Metadata Analysis/Repair Tools wizard is run for the SAS Foundation repository.

These log messages can be safely ignored.
